Harrop Moor is set in the Peak District National Park mid way between Buxton and Macclesfield and next to the Goyt Valley SSSI. The Moor and its surrounds is a typical example of Dark Peak Scenery with a mix of grasses and heathers providing good habitat for upland birds such as grouse, curlew and snipe.
The Northern section of the moor is reasonably flat with a bank dropping away to the south and within the bank are some areas of exposed peat which are in the form of small valleys with seasonal streams running down them. The streams run into a larger water course which runs just outside the southern boundary of the moor. At the lower southern edge of Harrop Moor there are some areas of rush which provide good cover for ground-nesting birds.
The moor would be suitable for rough grazing if fenced or just for the pure enjoyment of owning space in the countryside.
The purchasers of the meadow will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
